Dear Friends,

By launching this website you’re now exploring, I’ve fulfilled another dream of mine that goes back many years. There are three main reasons I created this site: to express myself directly to you, to share my knowledge and experiences, and to contribute to the spread of a positive culture.

On my website, which I hope you’ll enjoy, I’ll be posting at least one new article each week. In the “Biography” section, you’ll find my life story, shared in an original tone with some interesting personal accounts. The “My Business Life” tab includes pieces about the projects I’ve carried out or am still pursuing, as well as the vision and philosophy that drive me. I aim to offer a broad perspective in these texts while keeping the tone current and free from technical jargon.

In the ‘Hobbies’ section, you’ll find colorful posts about how I spend my time outside of work and what brings me joy. The ‘Media’ section serves as an archive of interviews and news stories about me from print, digital, and broadcast outlets. All external links that I find interesting or thematically connected to my posts can be found under ‘Links.’ You can also reach out to me anytime via the ‘Contact’ section to share your thoughts and feedback. Meanwhile, previously published blog posts that I’ve truly enjoyed sharing with you are available in the ‘Archive’ tab. A curated selection of the most relevant ones is featured right on the homepage.

I hope you’ll enjoy this cultural exchange as much as I will over the years to come. At this point, I’d like to touch on the meaning behind the phrase Pura Vida, which appears in the title of this post. This philosophical expression from Costa Rica can be translated in various ways, such as “pure life,” “the good life,” “living to the fullest,” or “positive living.” However it’s used, it always conveys something uplifting. The way I interpret the “positive living” meaning of Pura Vida is this: life is beautiful to the extent that it is filled with meaning. That’s why we should take responsibility and strive to create what is positive and meaningful. And that’s also the core reason behind this website—which I hope to enrich more each day with your input and participation.

Pura Vida!

Note: This article was originally written back on 26 February 2014. On 4 July 2025, we launched the new version of this website. Although I stepped down from my honorary consul role in December 2021, the memories of my time in that wonderful country are still vivid, as if they happened yesterday. In Costa Rica, Pura Vida is said when something bad happens to mean “this too shall pass—life is beautiful regardless,” and when something good happens to mean “once again, life has shown us how beautiful it is.” I bear the Pura Vida philosophy with pride and try to apply it in every part of my life.
