Last month, we showcased our waste prevention vision in Bozcaada and accomplished significant work. In this article, I’ll be discussing TİDER’s Ramadan campaign, which we launched last month with the arrival of Ramadan.

As I’ve shared with you before, TİDER has two main visions:

  1. Preventing waste,
  2. Enabling those in need of standing on their own two feet.

As a reminder, I’d like to share our waste prevention vision with you again:

Last month, during the Bozcaada Run, we realized our waste prevention vision and…

  • Unopened water was directed to the Geyikli Food Bank for delivery to those in need.
  • Consumable food and water collected in containers and barrels during the event were directed to Bozcaada and Geyikli Animal Shelters.
  • Plastic and paper waste was collected by our TİDER team and volunteers and recycled through the Bozcaada Municipality.

You can read the details in my articles at the links below:

We will continue to implement our waste prevention vision wherever we can.

So, what are we doing to help those in need become self-sufficient?

We provide food banks, designed like supermarkets, where those in need can purchase the bare necessities like food, cleaning products, and clothing, just as they would in a dignified manner. When providing these products, we tell those in need, “We’re giving you these products, but we really want to help you become self-sufficient. That’s why we can find you a job.” We also refer families with other needs, such as a disabled member, to relevant NGOs like TOFD to help them purchase a wheelchair.

In addition to achieving our waste prevention vision in Bozcaada, we also launched a campaign. Through my campaign, I raised 10,350 TL, covering the needs of 40 families. Together with all our volunteers who launched the campaign, we raised a total of 24,994 TL. I’d like to share the relevant images below:

Last month, with the arrival of Ramadan, we launched our Ramadan campaign. We announced this campaign as follows:

During Ramadan, your donation will be multiplied 70 times with the TİDER Effect. Together, let’s support 500 families during Ramadan. This will save 100 tons of food from waste and prevent 330 tons of carbon emissions!

Every 100 TL donation you make to TİDER will enable a family to purchase all their food, including fruits and vegetables, cleaning supplies, and holiday clothes for their children from Destek Markets. Additionally, each family will save 20 kg of produce from waste, ensuring they can meet their basic needs.

Your donation during Ramadan is 70 times more powerful with the TİDER Effect!

I’d like to recap our perspective on creating social benefits: Just as buildings have load-bearing columns, every family also has individuals who work, produce, and care for many others. We strive to increase the number of these individuals. To this end, we find jobs for those in need so that, through a multiplier effect, they can help other family members in addition to their own needs. We also invest in the future. For example, by directing children and young people to education-related NGOs (such as Darüşafaka, TEGV, TED, and TEV), we do our best to ensure they receive a good education and become the load-bearing pillars of the future. The first leg of this meticulously planned and complex structure is to meet the basic needs of these people. So, we start by feeding them, cleaning them, and finding them clothes to wear. For this, we need your support more than ever. We ask for your support for this campaign we’re organizing for the month of Ramadan. I’d like to take this opportunity to share the photo we took the other day at the iftar dinner we hosted for our volunteers in Bozcaada:

We’ve reached where we are today thanks to you, our supporters and volunteers. With your increasing support, we will continue to address social issues that are pressing national concerns and expand our activities nationwide.

Stay well…
