The Bozcaada events we’ve all been eagerly awaiting begin tomorrow morning. I’m thrilled to be a part of the running event I enjoy most, starting tomorrow.

I’ve mentioned in previous articles that the runs in Bozcaada are one of my favorites. I’d like to remind you of the articles I wrote:

This time, we’re heading to Bozcaada for a different purpose. As TİDER, we’ll continue our campaign, which we launched with great enthusiasm with our Bozcaada Run volunteers and supporters, and we’ll also be undertaking a significant initiative: We’ll realize our vision of preventing waste at the Bozcaada event.

As a reminder, TİDER has two important visions:

  1. Preventing waste
  2. Enabling those in need to stand on their own feet

I would like to share with you once again our vision for preventing waste below:

We intend to implement the process described above throughout the event in Bozcaada. We will implement the entire process with the support of Arkas Tourism, Bozcaada Municipality, BOZTİD (Bozcaada Tourism Operators Association), Geyikli Municipality, and New Balance.

  • For those in need: At the end of the day, untouched baked goods, fruit, and unopened water and juice will be directed to the Geyikli Food Bank for distribution to those in need.
  • For animals: We are collaborating with restaurants in Bozcaada through BOZTİD. Leftover consumable food collected from restaurants will be directed to the Bozcaada Animal Shelter. Additionally, consumable food and water collected in containers and barrels throughout the event will be directed to the Geyikli Animal Shelter.
  • For recycling: Plastic and paper will be recycled through the Bozcaada Municipality. Organic waste will also be composted.

This will enable us to complete the entire chain mentioned above.

Let me explain what we do in terms of another important vision: helping those in need become self-sufficient: We meet their basic needs through food banks, providing them with vocational training and enabling them to gain employment. Is this enough? Of course not.

We must provide much more than we do for family development. This can only be achieved through NGO solidarity. For example, we want to refer someone in need whose family has ALS to the ALS-MNH Association. We also collaborate with various NGOs. We not only provide guidance based on the needs of families, but also provide food, beverages, detergents, and hygiene products to our NGOs, which operate nursing homes and support units.

We plan to spread this model, which prevents waste and helps families develop, throughout Türkiye.

Let’s talk a little about the TİDER Effect and our campaign goals for the Bozcaada Run:

Through the Bozcaada event, we aim to meet the basic needs of 115 families for a year and save 30 tons of produce from waste.

As a reminder, thanks to our model, we can generate 70 times the impact of a single individual’s donation*. We call this the Tider Effect. In other words, the impact of every step you take to support a family will be magnified by 70 times with Tider!

Every 265 TL donation will meet a family’s basic needs for a year, provide jobs for the family’s able-bodied members, and save 256 kg of produce from waste per family!

We would like to thank all our volunteers and supporters who have joined us in this excitement.

We also invite our NGO friends to our stand to share this joy with us and support us in this endeavor! Together, we will continue to do everything we can to achieve the social development our country needs.

A message to TİDER supporters: We look forward to your support in all of our endeavors. For your donations, simply visit https://bagis.adimadim.org/?ccid=CC30126 .

See you in my next post, where I’ll share my post-event observations and experiences.

For now, stay safe and well.
